Hi, I’m Julie! I’ve been baking for as long as I can remember. I graduated from Gettysburg High School in 2019 and immediately enrolled in YTI Career Institute. While there, I was taught how to take passion and creativity and make it into something both delicious and beautiful. I learned all about the art of breads, chocolate work, sugar sculpting, cake decorating, plated desserts, and various pastries. In 2020, I graduated right at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately most business were shutting down at that point, everything except the essentials- grocery stores. I started my baking career with Kennie’s Market as their cake decorator and within six months had been promoted to Assistant Bakery Manager. six months later promoted again to Bakery Manager of their Biglerville location, where I’ve been for the last five years now.

Not long before I started with Kennie’s, my dad had passed away from his extensive battle with cancer. His passing only made me more passionate with baking, he was my number one supporter (and my number one taste tester) as he always had to tell (and bring) his coworkers all of the goodies I had been making. so I sought out to make him as proud of me as possible.

In 2024, I was presented with an unbelievable opportunity- someone was selling their entire crepe business setup! My boyfriend, Tyler, and I jumped on the chance and Apple City Crepes was born. We primarily set up at Lansdale Farmers’ Market while trying to do some local events here and there and maintaining full time jobs. Once market season was over, we thought about it and thought about it, and came to a big decision. As fun as making crepes was, it wasn’t what I wanted to do forever- I wanted to bake. Shortly after Apple City Crepes became Apple City Sweets!
